Liberty Warbird Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We own and operate a Bell UH-1H Iroquois “Huey” helicopter, which we affectionately know as Huey 823. Our mission is to educate the public about the role of the UH-1 Huey helicopter in the Vietnam War, honor those who served, and restore this aircraft, allowing people to experience its impact.
We travel to events throughout the region, participating primarily in municipal and community events, holiday celebrations, airshows, and especially events honoring and recognizing veterans. In some cases, we conduct fly-overs. Some events allow us to land and display Huey 823 to guests who range from curious to stoic to deeply moved.
Through these events, we are able to reach thousands of people: some are aviation enthusiasts, others are brand new to the experience. Most important are those we are able to reach through the unique silhouette or the familiar and unmistakable sound of a Huey in flight. To those who know this aircraft through their time in Vietnam, we are honored to say: “welcome home.”
